Hidden in undergrowth, the ruins of An Sceach Gheal were discovered by Charlie while out exploring Cnoc Suain’s wild and mysterious hillside, and the rest as they say, is history.
This lovingly and creatively restored and reimagined thatch roofed stone cottage, named after the distinct c270 year-old hawthorn tree which blossoms at its gable end, is a touchstone to our heritage, and a luxurious step back in time.
Electrified antique oil lamps, handcrafted furniture and soft inviting furnishings create a soothing atmosphere which helps to calm the mind and nourish the soul. Choose a book from our specially selected Irish interest collection and cosy up inside during those wet and windy days with a wood-burning stove fire and underfloor heating throughout.

WIFI: There is NO WIFI or mobile/cell phone signal in the cottages and limited mobile/cell phone signal on the grounds. There is WIFI for guests in a communal building located on the hill in our ‘Upper Village’, a one-minute walk from the cottage.
Laundry: Our self-service guest laundry room (washing machine & dryer) is located in another building in our ‘Lower Village’ not far from the cottage. Eco laundry powder, laundry basket, clothes airer, iron and ironing board provided.
